I needed to write this. And maybe it is a rant or a ramble, but I can’t stay silent about this, because it breaks my heart every single day.
It makes me sick to hear people say that the world wouldn’t change and that nothing would happen if they ended their lives. And I know that depression causes extreme pessimism and I’ve been there and felt that, but recently I realized something and I just have to share it. Because everyone should know this.
Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect? Well I read this short story about it in high school or middle school. And in this story, time travelers went back into the dinosaur age, and one of them accidently stepped on a butterfly. Now you may be thinking, aww poor butterfly but why does it matter? It matters because everything and everyone matters. And that was shown to them when they went back to their present day and found there was a new, odd language and I believe that some family line was all wiped out or something like that. But the point is that one little butterfly can change everything.
And so why I am telling you this? Because I am trying to you explain to you that you will change the world. And I’m not saying you will become the next leader of your country or a movie star (but who knows, I’m a firm believer that if you work hard enough you can have anything you set your mind to), but maybe you will meet someone, who will meet someone, who will meet someone who WILL become the next leader. But they couldn’t have done that if a long way back you didn’t influence someone else.
Every life is important and precious. So don’t believe that stupid lie your mind is telling you. Because it is a stupid lie. Our lives are affected by every single person that ends their life and it breaks my heart that maybe someone I was supposed to meet in my life is no longer there because they decided the world would be better off without them, and that’s not true.
Look, you are only given one life, and since things change all the time throughout your life, that means things can get better. I know in depression if feels like you are trapped, but you aren’t, and every day you have a new chance to change your life positively.
So don’t sit around. That doesn’t help, because then all you are doing is thinking about the things you don’t want to think about. Take a step and move. Do something, say something. Change your life. Because you only have one chance to live it so you might as well make the best of it, right?
Don’t end your life when life is always changing and always can get better, alright?
Remember I love you, and I want to meet you or someone who you met.
Read this, please.
